I know parents have a lot of questions when it comes to SAT prep–and you should. Choosing the right program isn’t just about picking a class. It’s about making sure your child has the right support, structure, and strategy to succeed. Below, I’ve answered the most common questions families ask me so you can feel confident about what we do, how it works, and whether it’s the right fit for your child.

Our students come from all kinds of backgrounds and starting points – what they share is a willingness to put in consistent effort. If your child shows up, does the work, and is open to learning, they’re the right fit. The students who thrive here aren’t necessarily the “genius kids” – they’re the ones willing to follow the process.
It depends on the student, but the non-negotiable is consistency. Even 30 minutes a day, three days a week (with the phone out of the room, focused) will do more than random marathon sessions here and there. Small, steady deposits add up to huge gains over time.
Most programs throw content at students or teach a couple of “tricks.” At Legrand Prep, we combine deep content knowledge, proven test strategy, mindset training, and executive functioning skills. It’s not just about raising a score or doing well in 1 class. It’s about building confidence, discipline, and the ability to tackle challenges long after test day.
Students who are consistent often see noticeable jumps within just a couple of weeks. That said, the exponential growth–the 400+ point leaps–usually comes with steady prep over a few months. Both short-term boosts and long-term transformations are possible depending on the path your family chooses.
Absolutely. Our programs are designed to work with busy students. The key is building a routine that’s realistic and sustainable–not overwhelming. We’ll help your child set up a study plan that fits around school, sports, and activities without burning them out.
We know life is expensive, and prep is an investment. Here’s the bigger picture: a strong SAT score can unlock scholarships that dwarf the cost of prep–we’re talking tens of thousands, sometimes hundreds of thousands of dollars. But here’s the key: your child has to do the work. If they commit, the reward completely outweighs the initial investment.

The earlier, the better–but it’s never too late to make an impact. Students who start as early as sophomore year can build mastery at a steady pace, while juniors and even seniors can still see meaningful score jumps with consistent prep. The key isn’t just when they start, but how consistently they work once they do.

And if your child is advanced–meaning they’ve already taken Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 before junior year–they should be preparing before junior year. If they wait, you run the risk of them forgetting and having to relearn those topics all over again.

Right now. Scholarships aren’t just for seniors. Some opportunities open as early as middle or early high school! Legitimately, you can start looking in 7th or 8th grade. But the biggest doors swing open with strong test scores. That’s why we focus on building a score that puts your child in the top scholarship bracket. Once that score is in place, the return on investment is massive.
